About Sara Kohtala

Hi there! My name is Sara Kohtala and I am a registered psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. I have significant experience in providing evidence-based psychotherapy treatment.

I provide services to those presenting with a wide variety of issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, gender and sexuality concerns, relationship issues, body image and self-esteem difficulties, addiction, and OCD, among many others.

I always work from trauma-informed and anti-oppressive lenses. I am welcoming of clients who are LGBTQ2IA+, addicts, immigrants, sex workers, and who have disabilities.

I use a variety of therapeutic modalities, tailoring them to suit the needs of each individual client. These modalities include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotion and Solution-Focused practices, and Mindfulness techniques.

My Mission

I strive to provide empathetic, dignified, and high quality psychotherapy treatment to every single client. I believe we are not defined by the traumatic events in our lives and that people from all backgrounds deserve the same quality of accessible care. I am dedicated to continuing my education in counselling psychology so that you are always receiving the most effective, evidence-based care.

I am here for you.

Are you ready to begin your healing journey? Life is hard, but you don’t have to go through it alone.
